Amazon Fresh opened a location in Franconia, VA on May 27, its first store in the greater Washington, D.C. area and the 13th in the country. The approximately 30,000 sq. ft store features the Amazon Dash Cart, which enables customers to skip the checkout line, and new Alexa features to help customers manage their shopping lists and better navigate the aisles. Prime members also have access to free, same-day pickup from the store.

Next up in the region for Amazon Fresh will be a new store in Chevy Chase, MD which is currently hiring store associates.

Additionally, the store will be donating surplus food to local food banks.
